Grapefruit Cocktail

Processed with VSCO with a5 presetSummertime, and the livin’s easy! Summertime and cocktails on the patio are some of my favorite times. I stumbled across this grapefruit italian soda at Trader Joes a while back and knew it would make one heck of a cocktail addition.IMG_2905.JPG

This recipe is super simple, refreshing, and EASY to make.

Simply combine

  • 1oz white rum
  • Juice of 1/2 grapefruit
  • Top with 1oz Italian grapefruit soda

Stir to combine to keep the fizziness of the drink from going flat. Garnish with grapefruit slices. Ta-da! The easiest summer cocktail you can imagine!

If you wold like to add another flavor to pair well with the grapefruit in this drink I would suggest:

  • thyme, rosemary, or mint simple syrup (1 part sugar to 1 part water heated until sugar dissolves with herb of choice left to steep in syrup overnight)
  • 1/4 tsp aromatic bitters
  • 1/2 tsp fruit puree like raspberry or strawberry

This drink mixes really well with other flavors, but I personally enjoy it with just the grapefruit. It is light enough to enjoy the beverage, but still sophisticated enough to make for company. Cheers!
